Christmas Markets in the Lake District 2022

'Tis the season to feel festive, enjoy a mulled wine or two and explore some of the local events going on in December. Christmas markets are a great way for local craftspeople to sell their products and small businesses, like us, would appreciate your support in shopping small and local.

Hawkshead Christmas Fair

10am - 4pm, Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th December

Set in the beautiful village of Hawkshead, this Christmas Market is a must for locals and visitors to the area. It's free entry with indoor and outdoor stalls throughout the cobbled streets. More info here.

Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair

4pm Friday 2nd to 4pm Sunday 4th December

Not quite the Lake District, but this Christmas Fair is one of the best in the area. Held over three days, there's a lot going on all over this lovely market town. A Chalet Village with lots of Festive traders, Indoor Market, Santa Parade, an outdoor music stage, more music in venues around the town, kids' activities, carol singing, workshops and loads more with free entry. Rydal Mount Christmas Fayre

10am - 4pm, Saturday 10th December & Sunday 11th December

This market takes place at the former home of poet William Wordsworth across two days. It is a ticketed event (£12 per adult) that gives you entry to the house and beautiful 5 acre gardens. You can expect stalls selling crafts, gifts and food and drink. There will also be love music performed but local artists and carol singers to get you in the festive spirit. More info here.

Windermere Christmas Market

10am - 6pm & 10am - 4pm, Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th December

This market started in 2016 and has been growing year on year. It will have over 50 stalls spread throughout the town centre that will be packed full of local food and drink products including many festive additions like Lakes Gin, and also some handmade gifts and decorations. A brass band and local choirs will provide the perfect festive atmosphere. More info here.
