What to bring on a trip to the Lake District this Spring
14 April 2023
Walking boots
A sturdy and comfortable pair of walking boots that protect your ankles are definitely required to take on some of the Lake District's most famous hikes.
Waterproofs
Despite the weather getting a little warmer and drier, there's still a chance of a downpour - this is Northern England after all! The best waterproofs have a seal along the inner lining on the seams. Extra warm layers are always great to carry just in case of temperature change.
Map
One of our Walkers or Visitors Lap Maps are perfect for finding a family friendly walk or visitor attraction to explore. If you're looking for a more detailed map, then an Ordnance Survey map for the area you want to go walking in is advisable.
Swimming stuff
It says it in the name, but the Lake District has many bodies of water to swim in. We have a great blog on where to swim in Windermere, then another on the best tarns to explore for swimming. Ensure you follow the Check, Clean and Dry with your gear to campaign to stop invasive species!
